Message from Julie A Warriner, the Chair of Institute of Value Management

As we approach the end of 2017 I wanted to send our IVM members a very special Christmas wish.

For the Institute, 2017 has been a very busy year. We have had some challenges, the greatest of which has been in ensuring we remain financially stable and viable as an organisation. This followed concerns over a number of members not renewing their membership and some outstanding debtor payments. Some of this has now been rectified and I believe we are ending the year a little more stable than a few months ago. This has been achieved through the true determination of our Executive committee – both the elected and Co-opted members, not forgetting our Secretary Trish keeping us focussed and with the most up to date information.

Of special mention:
¬ Rolls Royce have recently joined as a new Corporate member
¬ Sellafield have extended their Corporate membership from 10 to 27 members
¬ Turner & Townsend continuation of membership *

On 11 October 2017 the IVM lead a Conference on Value Management, hosted and co-delivered at Turner & *Townsend offices, St Pauls, London. The conference focussed on Value Management and whether it was the overarching umbrella, with related disciplines such as Lean, Benefits Management and example case studies being presented and discussed.

The conference was extremely well attended with approximately 60 delegates attending from a range of organisations including:
Northern Ireland Water, Zurich, Royal Free Hospital, Network Rail, High Speed 2, Northumbrian Water, Turner & Townsend, Thames Tideway, HMRC, Highways England, London Borough of Hackney, Transport for London, Loughborough University, AM Skills, Equib etc.

Some excellent feedback was received and requests for further events was made. More on this (including the Value Management Conference presentation material) will be posted on the IVM website shortly.

The IVM is keen to continue this sharing of knowledge and learning and are looking for opportunities to do a follow on conference (possibly in the north of the country) in 2018. Any organisations wishing to host and co-deliver this please do contact me or our Secretary. chair@ivm.org.uk secretary@ivm.org.uk

and finally ….. the IVM would not exist as an organisation was it not for our Executive Committee (all volunteers) and also you as our members!! Please do support us moving into 2018 and spread the message – Value achievement (whether through Value Management, Benefits, Lean, and other related disciplines) does work!

Here’s wishing you a very merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to you all.
