How Do I Become A Member?

Becoming a member is simple. For Student, Trainee and Associate grades you can apply using the new streamlined online application form.

For Member, Fellow and Corporate applications, please download the relevant application form below and submit to secretary@ivm.org.uk along with any supporting documents.

Please note, that these grades of membership are not qualifications in Value Management.

For qualifications, see the Qualification Pathways section of this website and for people holding IVM Certification Board (IVM-CB) approved Value Management qualifications, please check with the IVM-CB, by contacting the Secretary@ivm.org.uk. Also, see “Qualified Professionals” section of this website.

Only individuals can hold approved Value Management qualifications.

Memberships

Membership Types

Student – £12 per year

Student ID Number & University required in the registration process

  • This grade is for students studying full time for a UK qualification
  • Student members are not eligible to use any designatory letters
Trainee – £24 per year

A reference number will be required in the registration process. At trainee level, you will be embarking on a career in Value Management but have no Value Management qualifications.

Open to individuals who meet a least one of the following requirements:

  • Have completed an IVM accredited VM1 Course in Value Management in the previous 6 months
  • Have completed a Management of Value (MoV) Foundation Course in the previous 6 months

Trainee membership is limited to two years. Trainee Members are not eligible to use designatory letters.

Associate – £96 per year

At Associate level, you will have a demonstrable interest in Value Management.

Open to individuals who meet at least one of the following requirements but, do not have Value Management qualifications:

  • Promote Value Management
  • Use Value Management
  • Are associated with Value Management

Associate Members may use the designatory letters AIVM.

Member – £108 per year

At Member level you will have considerable sector knowledge and skills in your profession. You will be focused on developing new skills and career progression. More experienced members may wish to share their skills and knowledge in the form of mentoring.

Open to individuals who meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Have successfully completed an IVM accredited VM2 Course
  • Hold a QVA or AVS/VMA qualification
  • Have successfully completed a Management of Value (MoV) Practitioner course
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a Value Management environment
  • Hold a relevant professional qualification in Lean, Benefits or Project Management

Members may use the post nominals MIVM.

To gain your MIVM designation you must demonstrate a range of professional and technical competencies by either:

Route 1: Holding a QVA or AVS/VMA qualification or, having successfully completed an IVM accredited VM2 Course or having successfully completed a Management of Value (MoV) Practitioner course or,

Route 2: Holding a relevant professional qualification in Lean, Benefits Management or Project Management or,

Route 3: Having a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a Value Management environment.

Fellow – £120 per year

Fellowship of the Institute of Value Management is the most senior grade available and is reserved for those who have reached the highest echelons in their career.

Open to individuals who meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Have demonstrated significant experience or contribution to the field of Value Management
  • Hold a current PVM qualification

Fellows may use the post nominals FIVM

To gain FIVM designation you must demonstrate a range of professional and technical competencies by either:

Route 1: being qualified as a Professional in Value Management (PVM) or,

Route 2: by your significant experience or, contribution to the field of Value Management

Corporate – from £720 per year

This grade is for organizations that use or promote value management and want to make a corporate statement to that effect. Being a Corporate member does not signify holding a Value Management qualification only individuals can do this.

A Corporate Member may nominate up to ten members of staff to have full voting rights. The nominated members of Corporate members may use, as individuals, the designatory letters AIVM, MIVM or FIVM if they meet the requirements and make a successful application). If nominees apply for MIVM or FIVM then they may be nominated at an additional cost of £12 per MIVM and £24 per FIVM nominee.

Additional members may be appointed at a cost of £72 per AIVM nominee, £84 per MIVM nominee or £96 per FIVM nominee.

If your Company wishes to have more than 10 nominees then a 10% discount will apply on the above initial fees for nominees 11 to 20 inclusive and then a 15% discount will apply on the initial fees for nominees 21 to 50 inclusive.
