Clients need to be aware that Institute of Value Management (IVM) members (Corporate or Individual) at certain membership grades i.e. Associate, Member and Fellow (AIVM, MIVM and FIVM) can use these designatory letters but they are NOT qualifications in Value Management.
If you wish to engage Value Management (VM) qualified professionals to enable Best Practice Value Management (BP-VM) using a Function Thinking mindset to be applied in your Organisation then only an individual can hold the following qualification which you should request proof they have (ask for a copy of their current VM qualification certificate) either:
PVM (Professional in Value Management) or
TVM (Trainer in Value Management).
The above VM qualified professionals have been competency-based qualified under the Value for Europe (V4E) VM Training and Certification System (V4E-TCS) which is based on British and European Standards BS EN12973:2020, BS EN1325:2014, BS EN16271:2012 and BS EN17952:2024. These individuals have to re-certify every 4 years to retain their qualification demonstrating their competency, experience and commitment to continuing professional development. Key Question: Check how long they have held the qualification.
For a list of PVMs and TVMs please click on the “Qualified Professionals” tab within this website.
An individual may be qualified at Foundation or Practitioner levels under the Management of Value System but this system is knowledge-based and of a lower level than the competency-based PVM and TVM qualifications awarded under the V4E-TCS.
